Music on the Patio – James Schlender

James Schlender has played the fiddle from an early age. At 13, James won first place in the junior competition at the National Oldtime Fiddlers’ Contest in Weiser, Idaho. Since then, he has competed at the adult level. He has placed in the top 10 four times, coming in as high as fifth in the nation at the Grand Masters Fiddler Championship in Nashville, TN. In addition to playing solo, James plays the 5-string fiddle in the Asheville-based bluegrass band Songs From the Road. He has shared the stage with Chick Corea, Bobby McFerrin, and George Benson.  In addition to being an impressive fiddler, he is also a master harmony singer.  You never know what James will play, but you can be sure it will be a delight.
