Mark Queen and Owen Grooms play lightning fast old time mountain tunes and sing a nice variety of more modern music, all with guitar and clawhammer banjo. Mark comes from a family of old time and bluegrass musicians that goes back at least five generations in Transylvania and Jackson counties, while Owen studied traditional music at Warren Wilson College. Their first self-titled release shows them playing tunes at breakneck speed and skilled improvisation, as well as their own unique take on old traditional singing songs. Owen also plays with the band Pretty Little Goat, and Mark Queen plays with his father, aunt, and other members as The Queen Family.
